Subsea Telecoms

IT Telecom – RovJet 605

Canadian subsea telecom cable installation and maintenance using the RovJet 605 system. Scope included deep-water route survey, cable lay, post-lay burial, and emergency repair readiness. Seatec supplied offshore project engineering, pilot/technician teams, and 24/7 operations support from 2024 onwards.

Pipeline Trenching

Pharos Offshore – SMD Q800 Trencher

Deployment of the SMD Q800 jet-trencher off Sicily for the burial of subsea pipelines. Our team handled mobilization, ROV integration, real-time trenching control, and post-installation survey ensuring specification compliance and minimal seabed impact.

Pre-lay Route Survey

Argeo – Kongsberg Hugin Astral AUV

High-resolution pre-lay route surveys for offshore pipeline corridor in Brazil using autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Delivered bathymetric, geophysical and environmental data to optimize cable and pipeline design, reducing installation risk and cost.

Research & Salvage

Pelagic Research Services – Odyssius ROV

Provided deep-water ROV operations for archeological and salvage work in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Tasks included artifact recovery, wreck site mapping, biological sampling, and live video transmission for onshore research teams.

Shipwreck Recovery

Deep Ocean Search – SS City of Cairo

Assisted in the deepwater recovery of precious metals from the WWII shipwreck “SS City of Cairo” at ~5,000 m depth. Managed heavy-lift ROV tooling, survey sensors, and safe recovery protocols under extreme conditions.

ROV & Scientific Support

Nautilus Live – Benthic Crawler “Wally”

Support for benthic crawler “Wally” and Nautilus ROV operations at deep-sea observatories. Integrated environmental sensors, managed fiber-optic umbilicals, and provided 24/7 subsea engineering during live broadcasts to the public.

Extreme Environments

Hydrothermal Vents Exploration

Deep-sea exploration of hydrothermal vent systems using advanced ROVs and sampling equipment. Collected geochemical and biological samples at depths over 3,000 m, contributing to research on chemosynthetic ecosystems.

Offshore Oil & Gas

Oceaneering – Petrobras Subsea Robotics Contract

Multi-year support contract supplying ROV pilots and subsea engineers for Petrobras operations. Provided intervention tooling, subsea metrology, and emergency response teams across multiple deepwater assets offshore Brazil.

Robotics & Autonomous Systems

Nauticus Robotics & Advanced Ocean Systems – MSA

Collaboration on multi-sensor autonomous platforms integrating ROV and AUV capabilities. Our role included sensor fusion, subsea control software, and offshore testing to validate hybrid operations.

Open Ocean & Nauticus Collaboration

Marine Archaeology

Ancient Shipwreck – Adrasan, Turkey

Delicate ROV inspections and 3D photogrammetry of an ancient shipwreck off Adrasan, Turkey. Delivered HD imagery for artifact cataloguing and site preservation planning with local authorities and researchers.

AUV/ROV Survey

Pipeline Route Survey – North Sea

Combined AUV and ROV operations for route survey and environmental baseline assessment in the North Sea. Delivered integrated datasets for pipeline engineering and permitting compliance.

Shore End Operations

Cable Landing Support – East Coast Canada

Managed shore-end cable landings including diver support, ROV trenching, and jointing operations in challenging tidal environments. Achieved on-time delivery with zero safety incidents.

Pipeline Installation

Deep Trenching – Baltic Sea

Subsea trenching and burial support for a new interconnector pipeline. Designed and installed custom trenching tools to manage glacial till seabed conditions and meet specified burial depths.

Decommissioning of subsea structures, cutting and recovery of flowlines, and plugging of wells. Employed heavy-duty ROV tooling and debris management plans to ensure safe, environmentally compliant removal.

Shipwreck Salvage

Salvage of WWII Vessel – Pacific

High-profile WWII wreck salvage operations in the Pacific. Precision navigation, 3D sonar mapping, and custom lift bags enabled recovery of sensitive artifacts from >2,500 m depth.

AUV Survey

Autonomous Environmental Survey – Norwegian Fjords

Long-endurance AUV environmental baseline surveys in Norwegian fjords. Delivered water-column chemistry profiles, seabed mapping, and biodiversity indexing to client scientists and regulators.

Subsea Anchor Installation – West Africa

Engineered and executed installation of subsea anchors and mooring chains for FPSO operations offshore West Africa. Provided load testing, subsea inspection, and as-built documentation.

Latitude Operations

Hybrid ROV/AUV Survey – Arctic

Hybrid ROV/AUV systems in Arctic waters for high-latitude pipeline inspection. Managed ice cover logistics, extended tether lengths, and cold-weather adaptations for vehicles and sensors.

Shore-End Cable Landing – Mediterranean

Nearshore ROV support for multiple fiber optic cable landings. Plough operations, diver support, and environmental monitoring in shallow coastal zones with strict permitting windows.

Academic Partnerships

Environmental Baseline Survey – Gulf of Mexico

AUV-mounted sensors collected environmental baseline data across multiple lease blocks. Delivered 3D bathymetry, sediment chemistry, and habitat maps to support EIA submissions.
